Created by acclaimed writer Jez Butterworth alongside Tom Butterworth and James Richardson, Britannia is a genre-bending, psychedelic tale of clashing faith systems, families torn apart, mystic men, and powerful women, all told with humour, heart and violence.
Three seasons of Britannia are available to watch on Sky Atlantic in the UK and on Epix in the US
Produced by Vertigo Films in association with Neal Street Productions and Sky Studios.
Britannia begins in 43AD as the Roman Army, determined and terrified in equal measure, returns to crush the Celtic heart of Britannia - a mysterious land ruled by wild warrior women and powerful druids who can channel the mysterious forces of the Underworld. Arch Celtic rivals Kerra (Kelly Reilly) and Antedia (Zoë Wannamaker) must face the Roman invasion led by the towering figure of Aulus (David Morrissey) as it cuts a swathe through the Celtic resistance.
The Romans are here and set to stay. Two years on from his invasion of Britannia, with the help of Celtic Queen Amena (Annabel Scholey), General Aulus (David Morrissey) is Romanising willing Celt tribes and crushing those who try to resist.
The only form of hope for the Druids and Celts is Cait (Eleanor Worthington-Cox), a young girl being trained by outcast Druid, Divis (Nikolaj Lie Kaas), to fulfil a prophecy that would save Britannia from the Romans. But when a dead man wakes, two Druid brothers, Veran and Harka, (Mackenzie Crook) begin an epic battle of wills that divides the Druids and puts the prophecy in jeopardy.
Hemple (Sophie Okonedo), the wife of General Aulus arrives in Britannia in the third season of the historical drama series.
